Effective date: 2 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Code Stellar LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“Code Stellar”, “we”, “us”), handles information in connection with Far Out, our daily category game, related support, and these legal pages. Contact our privacy team at info@codestellar.co. We are the controller of personal information we process for our own purposes.
At a glance: You do not need a Far Out account. Answers are checked on your device. We do not automatically upload your typed answers or full score history. Purchases, content downloads and configuration require limited technical information. From version 1.2, usage statistics and crash reports are on by default, so we can fix bugs and choose better questions. You can turn them off in Settings at any time. We do not sell your personal information or use it for cross-app targeted advertising.
1. Scope and important distinctions
This notice covers Far Out, not other Code Stellar products. Apple, your email provider, apps you choose to share to, and external websites also have their own practices. Reading a policy is not consent to optional data collection. We do not describe installation identifiers as anonymous: although they need not contain your name, they can distinguish an installation and may be personal information.
2. Information that stays on your device
Your submitted answers are matched and scored locally against a question set. Saved rounds, scores, streaks, completed-day history, practice history, selected world, settings and locally flagged answers are stored on your device. Far Out does not provide an account-based cloud backup or cross-device synchronization of this gameplay history. Your device or backup provider may include app data in backups according to your settings.
There are two voluntary exceptions: if you send a support email or rejected-answer report, we receive what you choose to send; if you use Share, the selected destination receives the shared result. Review the message before sending. A locally flagged answer is not automatically sent to us.
3. Information processed to operate the app
- Content and configuration: our hosting and configuration providers process ordinary connection information, such as IP address, request time, app version, operating-system information and installation identifiers, to deliver questions, configuration and updates, prevent abuse and diagnose delivery failures. An IP address can indicate an approximate region. We do not request precise location permission.
- Purchases and access: Apple processes payment. Our subscription provider processes app-specific identifiers, product identifiers, transaction and renewal information, purchase dates, entitlement status and technical information needed to validate purchases, restore access, prevent fraud and support billing. We do not receive your full payment-card details. A purchase confirmation contains more than a simple yes/no result; it may identify a transaction and its status.
- Support: if you contact us, we receive your email address, message, attachments and information you include, such as an app version, local support reference, transaction reference or reported answer. Do not send passwords, full card numbers, identity documents or sensitive third-party information unless we specifically establish a necessary and secure process.
4. Usage statistics and crash reports
Unless you turn off Share usage stats & crash reports in Far Out Settings, our diagnostics provider may process app-instance identifiers, device model, operating system, language, approximate country, screen and feature interactions, gameplay events (for example which question was shown, whether an answer was accepted or ran out of time, and a finished day’s score), purchase-flow events, notification-permission/open events, subscription status, activity counts, crash traces, performance measurements (such as app start, screen rendering and network request timing) and related technical diagnostics. The app does not intentionally include your typed answers or full score history in these events.
You can switch usage statistics and crash reports off without losing gameplay or purchased features. The app does not collect your device’s advertising identifier for these statistics. Analytics collection is disabled when the preference is applied. Changes to automatic crash-upload settings may fully take effect on the next app launch; restart after opting out. Unsent crash reports may be held locally by the crash-reporting component, and the app requests their deletion while reporting is off. Disabling diagnostics does not prevent essential purchase, content-delivery, configuration or security processing, and does not automatically delete information already received.
The current app does not request the advertising identifier or collect Apple Ads attribution tokens. We do not use app information to build cross-app advertising profiles, sell it to data brokers, or serve third-party advertising within the game.
5. Notifications, sharing and external links
Reminders are optional and scheduled locally using your play history and device time zone. The app asks for notification permission with Apple’s standard dialog; earlier versions could deliver reminders quietly to Notification Centre. You control reminders in the app and in iPhone Settings. We do not need your email address or phone number to provide these reminders. Delivery depends on iOS settings and device availability.
Sharing uses the destination you select. That destination can process, retain or publish the shared information under its own terms. Support email is sent through your mail provider. Opening these legal pages or other web links creates a normal web request; website hosting, security services, browser settings and any website-specific cookie choices apply separately from the in-app diagnostics switch.
6. Why we process information and legal bases
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on performance of a contract for purchased access and requested functionality; our legitimate interests in keeping the app reliable and improving the game through usage statistics and crash reports, which you can switch off in Settings; our legitimate interests in proportionate security, fraud prevention, service reliability, responding to requests and protecting legal rights where permitted; and legal obligations for required financial, regulatory or legal records. We consider the effect of these interests on individuals. You may withdraw consent or object to relevant legitimate-interest processing as described below. Withdrawal does not invalidate earlier lawful processing.
Usage statistics, crash reports and support content are not a condition of playing. Without the technical information necessary to communicate with a service, that service may not work. Game scoring is an entertainment function, not an automated decision with legal or similarly significant effects on you.
7. Recipients and international processing
We use service providers for hosting, configuration, usage statistics and crash reports, purchase management, email/support and security. The app currently uses Google Firebase for hosting/configuration, usage statistics and crash reports, RevenueCat for purchase access, and Apple for App Store distribution and payment. Relevant notices: Firebase privacy information, RevenueCat privacy information, and Apple privacy information. Providers may process service information under their own notices in addition to acting on our instructions.
Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, international transfers must use an applicable adequacy decision, recognized contractual safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your request; commercially sensitive or security information may be redacted as the law permits.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, investigate fraud or abuse, protect rights or safety, or establish or defend legal claims. In a merger, financing, reorganization, acquisition or asset sale, relevant information may be reviewed under confidentiality protections and transferred as part of the business, subject to applicable law and this notice. We do not authorize a buyer to ignore your existing statutory rights.
8. Retention
Retention depends on the purpose and type of record, rather than an unlimited right to keep everything:
- Gameplay on your device: retained until removed through available controls or deletion of the app. Offloading an app is different from deleting it. Backups and secure system storage may follow separate device/provider retention, and a reinstall may restore backed-up information.
- Usage statistics and crash reports: retained for the analytics property’s configured retention window and the provider’s applicable diagnostic retention schedule. Retention varies by data type and service. Identifiable diagnostic records are retained only as needed to investigate reliability and usage within the applicable service retention period.
- Purchases: retained as needed to provide continuing or restored access, resolve payment disputes, prevent fraud and meet applicable accounting or legal obligations. Deleting the app does not erase Apple’s purchase record or cancel a subscription.
- Support and operational logs: retained as reasonably needed to handle the issue, maintain security, document the response and meet relevant legal limitation periods. Records no longer needed for those purposes are deleted or de-identified under applicable operational schedules.
A legal preservation obligation or active dispute may require longer retention of relevant records. Deletion from backups may occur through normal backup rotation, with retained copies restricted from ordinary use. Aggregated information that no longer identifies an individual may be retained for statistical purposes.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to know or access information, obtain a copy, correct inaccuracies, delete information, restrict processing, receive portable information, object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to a privacy regulator. Some U.S. state laws also provide an appeal of a denied privacy request and rights concerning sale, sharing or targeted advertising. We do not conduct those sale/sharing/targeted-advertising activities in the app. We do not discriminate against you for exercising applicable rights.
Email info@codestellar.co with the subject Far Out Privacy Request and describe your request. You may include the app’s Support ID, but that local reference does not identify every provider record. We may request proportionate additional information to verify authority and locate records, such as an approximate date or relevant transaction reference. We will not demand more information than reasonably necessary. There may be records we cannot associate with you without additional information; we will explain relevant limitations and lawful exceptions rather than claim to have deleted unidentified records.
We respond within the deadlines applicable to your request. An authorized agent may contact us with appropriate proof of authority. If we decline a request, you may ask for an appeal by replying with Privacy Appeal; regulatory and judicial remedies remain available. European and UK residents may complain to their local supervisory authority, including the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office where relevant.
10. Children
Far Out is a general-audience word/category game and is not intended for children under 13. A store content rating describes content suitability and is not a representation that we have obtained parental consent for data processing. If you believe we have received a child’s personal information without legally required authorization, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required. We do not knowingly sell or share children’s personal information for targeted advertising.
11. Security and changes
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information and service, but no network, device or storage system can be guaranteed secure. Keep your device and operating system updated, protect access to your Apple Account and avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information in support requests.
We may update this policy as the app or our obligations change. The effective date identifies the current version. We will provide additional notice and obtain consent when required for a material change. An update does not retroactively authorize incompatible use of information already collected.
